The Problem We Set Out to Solve

Croatian users are familiar with renting apartments or listing on Facebook groups, but there was no centralized, trustworthy platform where they could:

• Book unique spaces (like garages, boats, or land plots)
• Hire workers for short-term construction or projects
• View clear refund policies, verified hosts, and flexible bookings

Most platforms treated real estate as a single category. We knew from research that people think in use cases, not asset types.

Having identified the core challenges facing property renters, hosts, and service seekers in Croatia, we came together to brainstorm solutions that would make Kliko more than just another booking platform. We asked meaningful “How Might We” questions to focus on the real problems our users were facing:

  • How might we help users book the right space or service without wasting time searching?
  • How might we give hosts more control and protection over cancellations and no-shows?
  • How might we give guests peace of mind when it comes to refunds, rules, and trust?
  • How might we ensure users respect booking rules, guest limits, and house policies?

Exploring these questions helped us define some of Kliko’s most impactful features, things like category specific booking logic, refund visibility, capacity enforcement, and verified user indicators. These weren’t “nice-to-haves”, they were must-haves based on what real users needed.

A mobile first experience built for clarity and speed

The aim was to allow users to feel that each interaction, from selecting a category to uploading a listing, would be intuitive and seamless on smaller screens. We used clear icons, tags, and progress indicators instead of text heavy instructions to guide users throughout their experience.
